My Oxford history professor is insane. He honestly expects me to be able to read 20 pages of that. Even if I could make out what the words say, I don't read Old English! Did you know that sometimes, they liked to use weird looking f's instead of s's? It looks like a lowercase f, but with the right side of the horizontal line cut off. I can't find any pattern to it - one time they used "pass" and another time they used "pafs". So this is what it looks like: the Prieft of the Parifh must Ufe the new Prayer Book to preach to his Parifhioners. 56 pages of that!

But anyway, this time tomorrow, I will be on an airplane, somewhere over the Atlantic, just barely into my nine-hour flight. I will either be asleep or reading Julius Caesar, or possibly eating some sour gummy worms. I'm kind of nervous about travelling by myself... ever seen the movie Taken? Not a good idea to watch as a girl travelling abroad by yourself. But I'm still excited. I just really hope the schoolwork part dies down a bit while we're there. For $2000 plus airfare, meals, and souvenirs, this trip isn't exactly cheap, and I want to have fun! I do have two assignments due tomorrow (on the day when everyone will be flying over... not cool) and two 5-6 page papers due a couple days after I get there. I have no idea how I'll get it all done, but I guess I don't have much of a choice!

So, here we go... about to become a world traveler. I'll try to post some while I'm there, but if I don't, I'll be back on June 28th, hopefully all in one piece. Wish me luck!

Tuesday, I went to class, just like any other day. I had my orientation meeting for Oxford that day, so my dad drove down to Athens to attend it with me. We got some good information, they gave me my syllabus (I'll have to write 2 fifteen page papers... yikes!), and all that jazz. As per tradition, Dad took me out for dinner - yay for free non-dining hall food!

I also got a nifty free T-Shirt!

I was going to go to Trivia Night at Loco's again, but I had too much homework =[

Today was a just another boring day. I went to class, came home, did homework. I'm currently reading Judas at the Joockey Club for Latin American history - thus far, it's about turn of the century Mexican sports.... excitement fills the air. I don't like 21st century American sports - why would I care about these? I also did note cards. Lots and lots of note cards. And did I mention notecards? All for my Logic test tomorrow, and hopefully they'll pay off!

I really hate Napoleon. Really. You have no idea. I just spent the last three hours of my life looking at, reading about, and writing a paper on roughly 100 Napoleon-themed propaganda caricatures from the early 19th century. My brain has officially turned to mush, and Napoleon is probably looking down on me (or up, depending on where he is), dancing around like the midget he is and laughing in his pansy little pantaloons. Sound like fun? Well it shouldn't, becuase it's not. At all. I still have to do quite a heavy load of German homework as well as 25 problems for Logic, and it's 11:20 already. My turd of a roommate is at a John Legend concert with her boyfriend as an early Valentine's Day gift, while I'm sitting here with cold fingers wondering if I can magically conjur up the homework fairy, who will get all my stuff done while I sleep.

On the bright side, I got to sit next to the cute guy in my history class again today. Thanks to Facebook, I found out he's single, which, on a campus where the ratio of women to men is 3:2, is a miracle unless the guy's ugly or a jerk. It's likely nothing will come of sitting next to him, but hey, it's someone to talk to. Maybe life's looking up?

Almost forgot to post again today. Technically it's really tomorrow, but since I haven't gone to bed yet, we're still gonna pretend it's today. I've had a fairly busy day. Lots of homework, on top of sorority stuff. The second picture is from Rush Week, and tonight, following with our Candy Land theme, we decorated ginger bread men. Then the roommate and I decided to go to McDonald's for those extra tasty double cheeseburgers and sweet tea. She made the cup float- that's right- I live with a magician.

Then I came back and did homework for German (which I am highly considering skipping tomorrow... we'll see), Intro to Logic and Critical Thinking, and I finally finished reading and writing about the French Revolution for my Western Civilization class. I had some issues understanding some of it, so I went to my Big Brother's apartment (in my pre-law fraternity) since he's a senior history major and knew exactly what I needed to write. Gotta love friends who stay up late! Anyway, gonna go to bed now... the 8 AM alarm is coming in just a few hours.

This is my bed. It may look cozy... but it's not. See how close the ceiling is? Not fun. See how small it is? Not fun. Regardless of this, it's where I'm headed very soon because I'm really full and that makes for a sleepy Stephanie. I had a steaming hot plate of lasagna for dinner because I fell victim to effective advertising and drove all the way to Kroger to get some. I then proceeded to trip the circuit breaker for our room twice in an attempt to microwave it, forcing me to move to the kitchen on our floor. After, we had a "dessert social" where we had different desserts in various rooms on our hall. It was supposed to be so we could meet and mingle with the other girls, but I just grabbed my cookies and ice cream and ran. I'm anti-social. =]

Today was, once again, just another homework-filled day in the Arctic. I wore jeans, tights under jeans, socks, tennis shoes, a camisole, shirt, cardigan, wool peacoat, thick scarf, leather gloves, and a hat, and I was still freezing all day. How does that work? I don't understand... I live in Georgia. It's not usually the tropics down here during winter, but it's most certainly not supposed to be The Day Afer Tomorrow out there. What's worse is it's this cold and not snowing, and so I still have to go to class in the morning. Which is why I'm going to bed. Yay for sleep before midnight!

So let's pretend that today is yesterday, and that I didn't forget to write yesterday. And I'll have a picture later. Thanks =]

It'll be a short blog today, mostly because I have to read for class. I was at home, went to breakfast with my parents, went shopping with my mom (found 3 camisoles with a shelf bra that were on sale- best part of my day!), went back to the house, ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (made with safe peanut butter), packed, and left for Athens. Was then stuck in traffic because of a wreck for 30 to 45 minutes, making me get back to the dorm later and forget to stop by Kroger to buy yogurt. Then I did German homework for, oh... 7 hours?

I hate German.

Short post today. This is the tin my mother sent to my dorm with me filled with yummy holiday treats; I am now thinking of turning it into a pencil holder, just because it's so damn cute.

Anyway, I have to go read for my Latin American history course- 100 pages by tomorrow. And I have German homework. And German culture. It just never seems to end... and it's only the third day of class.
